VD Ružín I
Vodná stavba Ružín I sa nachádza v severovýchodnej časti Slovenského Rudohoria, na rieke Hornád. Kamenitá priehrada so stredovým hlinitým tesnením, vybudovaná 30 km nad Košicami vytvára akumulačný objem 59 mil. m3. Jeho hlavným účelom je vytvorenie zásob vody pre priemysel v okolí Košíc. Voda sa však neodoberá priamo z nádrže, ale zásobný priestor 45,3 mil. m3 nadlepšuje prietoky Hornádu. Tak sa vytvárajú podmienky pre odberateľov a zároveň sa zlepšuje aj kvalita vody v rieke. Skalné podložie priehrady, ktoré tvoria rozpukané, na povrchu zvetrané granodiority s vrstvami mylonitov je utesnené injekčnou clonou premenlivej hĺbky v rozmedzí 25 až 30 m. Významným prínosom vodnej stavby je aj využitie hydroenergetického potenciálu vody. V čase prevádzky sa po prehodnotení hydrologických údajov potvrdilo zvýšenie prietokov Q100, aj Q1 000. To si vyžiadalo (1991 – 93) dodatočné vybudovanie nehradeného bezpečnostného priepadu a štôlne na prevod časti povodňových prietokov s kapacitu 125 m3.s-1. Podobné zariadenia boli vybudované aj na vyrovnávacej nádrži Ružín II, ktorá sa nachádza 4,6 km pod priehradou Ružín I.
The hydraulic structure Ružín I can be found in the northeast of the Slovenské Rudohorie Mountains, on the river Hornád. The rock-fill dam with central clay sealing built 30 km far from Košice has an accumulation volume of 59 million m3. Its main purpose is to supply the industry in the Košice region with water. But the water is not drawn directly from the reservoir. The storage capacity of 45.3 million m3 regulates the flows of Hornád. This is how good conditions for consumers are created while the quality of the water in the river improves. The rock subsoil, created by cracked granodiorite that is effloresced on the surface and by layers of mylonite, is sealed by a grout curtain. The depth of the curtain varies from 25 to 30 metres. An important asset of the dam is its use of the hydro potential of the water. The evaluation of hydrological data confirmed that in operation the discharges of Q100 and Q1000 were increased. That was the reason why an additional uncontrolled spillway and a gallery with a capacity of 125 m3.s-1 were built (1991-1993). They serve to release a part of the flood discharge. Similar mechanisms were built on the balance reservoir Ružín II that is situated 4.6 km below Ružín I.
